The roots were removed from the substrate, rinsed carefully with tap water, the excess water removed, and weighed to determine root fresh weight. The leaves, stems, and roots were oven-dried at 65°C for 1 week, and the dry weight was determined. Substrate samples were collected 10—15 cm below the surface at 90 DAT.
